Sweet Modern Townhomes on Lakeview Blvd
1 is an awesome concept, its just had its fair share of challenges along the way, but I do think it will ultimately get built as it has Barry Sternlicht backing it. He's not in the business of letting his vision go wayside. I hear they may be ridding it of the ridiculous City Suite concept that has plagued it from the very beginning. If that happens, I say its a VERY smart move.
I especially like the architecture of the building as it is a departure from the standard glass curtain wall we see going up everywhere around Seattle and Vancouver. Its just INTERESTING and very good looking. Basically, its a combination that recalls post-war construction with a limestone base and vegetation going up its walls, paired with the ultra-modern glass curtain plane that dissects the entire structure at an angle. It will definitely look even better once its built than what we all keep seeing in these pictures. Purely amazing.
As for the interior finishes at 1, again, these are great from everything I've seen. I hear they're looking at coming out with a new interior offering from what they originally had, but we'll see if that happens. I hope they don't screw up an already good thing. But for now, I would say it rivals Four Seasons, just in a more tasteful and modern way.
They ONLY thing I don't like about this project are the views. Wait, I take that back. The views are GREAT here, but just not as amazing as the Four Seasons. But, at $2,000/square foot at the Four Seasons, 1 looks like a five-star bargain.
Which brings me to my final point. So, when they FINALLY start construction on this project, I bet they significantly raise prices in the face of the market. They're just too low when you compare it to other similar five-star condo/hotel projects in Seattle with ultra-high end finishes. Its sad for people like me who will never be able to afford something like this, but its great to see good architecture (tasteful and modern without being boring) finally coming to our city.
In a nutshell, if you're a trend-setting, multi-millionaire looking for five-star hotel living in downtown Seattle, but you don't want to live around a bunch of old stuffy people (Four Seasons and 1521), this is your best bet.
I am sure there are plenty of multi-gajillionaire "urban lifestyle enthusiasts" who will be jumping over each other to pay out the nose for this place.
(I do agree that it looks cool...but, come on...)
That place looks awesome. I can't even guess the price tag. Or even what the HOD's would be every month. 7k?
So, I did a little research today, and #2204 is no longer at 10,350 square feet. In fact, the largest penthouse suite is indeed #2202 I mentioned above at 6,865 sq.feet. There are seven penthouses in 1, and all are shells. So, this is somewhat a bit misleading and old information.
At one time, this #2204 was perhaps a possibility, but these penthouse plans and square footages have changed several times over the course of the past two years. The #2204 we are talking about here would NOW more closely resemble the possible space being offered in #2206. This slide show we have seen will never come to fruition as the space and exact footprint we see simply does not exist in 1. Also, any of the penthouse spaces can and will be finished as their owners see fit as they are sold as shells - meaning, these were only renderings of what some architect in Seattle would offer as his/her own vision. It doesn't meat, in any way, this will be what the owner would choose to do.
Anyway, anyone know when this place will get started? And, once it does, how long it will take to finish? Anyone know where prices are in this place right now?
Wait...does that building even have a pool?
Regardless...it's a pimpalicious pad!
